Salad CSA Membership
Sign up to begin in April 2025! 32 weeks of salad!
For all the salad lovers amongst you! Subscribe for a whole season of freshly-picked seasonal leaves, herbs and flowers, available for collection or local delivery on Wednesdays from April through to October.
This is not your average bag of leaves! Our salad is a vibrant and delicious mix of lettuces, mustards, edible flowers and a diverse range of other leafy plants and herbs which together create a beautiful and flavourful addition to any meal.
The salad bags will change throughout the season - with more mustards, claytonia, chervil and hardy lettuces in the winter and exciting things like buckshorn plantain, Korean mint, dill and purslane in the summer.
This year’s salad subscriptions will run from the first week of April to the last week of October. We’ll update the full price each week until our subscription is full.
Weekly Payments:
If you would prefer to pay for your salad weekly you can set up a direct debit £4.90 a week. Please follow this link to set up payments via GoCardless. This is a great option for spreading the payment out but we do ask you to still consider this as a commitment to paying for the full season.
Price increase:
Last season we have decided to increase the price of our salad from £4 to £4.90 as we now have a better understanding of the work it takes and the amount we actually need to charge to pay ourselves a living wage. As the first price increase in 3 years we hope that our current friends and supporters will understand and we’re hugely grateful for all of your support to us over the past years.
How our Salad CSA works:
By signing up for a season of salad you will be supporting Garden Folk to plan, grow, harvest and distribute our produce without the fear of it going to waste. As a Salad CSA member you become an integral part of Garden Folk and the work that we do.
Once you’ve made your payment we then assume that you are having salad every week for the rest of the season and will plan and plant our crops accordingly. This means that on any weeks you aren’t able to have salad we ask for you to donate that bag rather than be refunded for it. We understand that this is quite a commitment but also hope this commitment is something good for you, for nature and for the future of supporting the garden here.
Weekly Salad Info:
Salad details: A 200g bag of salad leaves, herbs and edible flowers. We wash all our salad but recommend you give it a quick rinse at home. It is then packed into biodegradable bags and put straight into our fridges in the same morning to ensure your salad is perfectly fresh.
Collection place: Exact location disclosed when you sign up. Purple Patch Market Garden, Watercress Farm.
Collection window: 12pm Wednesdays until 6pm Fridays. To reduce wastage, uncollected salad will be cleared away and redistributed on Friday at 6pm. Uncollected bags will not be refunded.
Collection sheet: Please tick your name off the salad sheet when you collect - it really helps us keep track of things!
Access: As there is limited vehicle access to the site please collect on foot or by bicycle. If this isn’t an option for you please get in touch.
Deliveries: If you live between Purple Patch and the Mina Road tunnel we can deliver your salad to you! If you would like your salad delivered please let us know by email.
Bags: Our salad bags are biodegradable and make great compost bin liners! If you would prefer you can also drop them back with us in the basket opposite the fridges and we will use them ourselves, just please don’t throw them away.
Flowers: Flowers such as calendulas and cornflowers are sometimes included as whole heads so that you can remove and scatter their petals over your salads back at home.
Feel free to email gardenfolkcic@gmail.com with any questions!
